"Button, Button" was a short story first written by Richard Matheson in 1970, about a down-on-their-luck couple who were approached by a mysterious man offering a moral quandary: Here is a button. Click it and two things will happen. First, someone you do not know will die. Second, you will get 1 million dollars.
There have been many adaptations. In 1986 it was turned into a twilight zone episode with a different ending.
In 2009, the movie "The Box" had a simmilar story. It didn't do very well.
Also in 2009, "Hijinks Ensue" wrote a comic, parodying the new movie.
More recently, "Pictures for Sad Children", another web comic, created a wonderfully understated rendition.
"Funny Or Die" did a hilarious parody video too.
