The idea of the Turbo Encabulator was first thought up in 1946, as a joke poking fun at the technical jargon used by engineers, by a lawyer whose job was to review technical manuscripts. Later in 1962 GE took the joke one step further, creating product documentation [PDF].

In 1988, Chrysler Motor Co. created a series of videos, expounding the virtues of the Turbo Encabulator, and training in it's use.
